Icaro - special sedan for disables

The Idea of the disabled and the consequent breaking down of the architectural barriers, can be define as a universal theme. The environmental and social integration of people with disabilities, of the elderly or of those that are somehow limited in their phisical or sensorial mobility its for sure one of the most important challange that every country faces in their route towards the future.
The integration its linked to the usage of spaces, to the possibility of moving, to the
usage of services, to the possibility of partecipate , as everybody else, in the everyday life.
When these kind of problematics exist, they get ampliphied when associated to the situations of the disabled and their possibility of benefit and enjoy the landscape heritage and archeological, artistic and cultural in general.

In this world there are about 100 milion people with disabilities, permanently or temporarally, and they represent over 1% of the world poulation. Even in schools, amongs the youngers, the percentage of people with disabilities its about the same.

Lots of sites, mostly archeological, but also landscape, museums or religious sites, often present, for their characteristic or for their natural or historical structure, evident impediments to those that are phisically or sensory disabled.

Pompei Service has been working for several years in the touristic, receptioning and touristic information field. We have gained professionality and capacity in the development of the services and projects linked to tourism, of the itineraries , the historical and archeological didactics , to the logistic support and the multimedial solutions.
The experience gained along these years allowed us to get to know and analize the potential and the problematics linked to this field, and gave us the input to design and develope the ICARO’s Sedan and the project connected to it.

In collaboration with a team of expert of the field, Pompei Service designed, developed and
realized the ICARO’s Sedan, a special Sedan for disabled.
The purpose of ICARO is to be able to allow(also to those with disabilities) to enjoy and benefit the cultural and landscape heritage that surrounds them.
